Lake Powell

ALL the boys digging "dinotopia". They had a blast, they would fill the pool at the top & then it would break the dam causing a "flash flood"!!

We started the first week of summer vacation in Lake Powell. We left Saturday after Ric got off work & we decided to drive as long as the kids (mostly Isaac), would allow. We knew Ric's parent, sister & nephew were on their way home from Vegas, so we called them & they were on the road, so we met up with them for dinner in Beaver! Isaac was being a GREAT traveler, much better than out last big road trip, so we decided to go to Kanab. We got there around 10:15 and got a nice motel room, yes, all 7 of us squished in one room. Ric, Isaac & I shared one queen bed, Anthony, Nate & Casey slept sideways on the other queen bed & Brady slept in a porta crib with he thought was hilarious! They had FREE breakfast, which was a nice benefit, and the boys loved that they could help make their own yummy waffles, have cereal, toast, or whatever they wanted AND choose juice from the machine. We got back on the road for a short last leg of the drive and made it to Powell Sunday morning. Heather & Tom were there until Tuesday, Todd & Stanton were there all week as well as Mom & Dad, Mindie, Kev & Cody, but we missed Brittany, Scottie, Janet, Hannah, Ava & Easton :( (Next year I think everyone is planning on going, right guys??? It would be super fun!!) We had glow stick raves, us girls showed off our belly dancing moves, the boys dug & dug & dug in the sand, (we had an amazing beach!), we played lots of cards, watched a few movies, went on boat rides and of course had LOTS of great food! We left Thursday morning so that Ric could get back to work. Anthony & Nathan were lucky enough to stay an extra day with grammie & papa, which they were thrilled about! Casey was feeling a bit sad that he couldn't stay so we decided to make the trip home special for him, so we stopped at Moki Cave just outside of Kanab, it was so much fun, they had dinosaur fossils, tracks, a ton of cool rocks, neat things to look at in the museum & a cool gift shop! So, Casey was ok after that, he felt so special to get to see Moki Cave. Since we left in the morning, we had plenty of time to get home, so we took it slow & made a few fun stops!! What a wonderful way to start summer vacation!!! THANKS GRAMMIE & PAPA!!!
